Version 0.3 builds on the 0.2 “Status Effects” release by adding another new feature to modify the gameplay experience: Talismans! Talismans are selected at the beginning of a run and have effects that last the entirety of the run. Talismans are unlocked by winning combats. If you want to just test out all the talismans, however, you can unlock them all by opening the new “hidden” menu by pressing ~ on the menu screen.

what’s next

As mentioned in v0.2.1’s “what’s next”, v0.4 will be all about making runs longer and more dynamic with randomly generated paths and new non-combat events that give you chances to rest

Features

  • Talismans: unlocked by winning combats, selected at the start of runs
    • Autoblock: Unlocked by default, grants 3 block at the start of each turn
    • Swiftly Carved Statue: Unlocked after 2 combat wins, grants you 4 energy per turn instead of 3, but you only draw 4 cards each turn
    • Amulet of Grim Determination: Unlocked after 6 combat wins, grants 1 Strength per “Injury” card in your deck. Also adds 1 “Clumsy Swing” to your starting deck (see new card descriptions below)
  • New Cards:
    • Clumsy Swing Costs 2, Deals 7 damage to each enemy, shuffles 1 Injury into your draw pile
    • Injury: A non-playable, temporary card. Temporary cards are removed from your deck after combat

Usability / UI

  • Card Library - from the menu, selecting “Card Library” will show you all cards
  • Deck View and Graveyard View - In combat, clicking on the draw pile (small card back icon to the left of your hand) will show you cards in the draw pile in alphabetical order. Clicking on the graveyard (small inverted card back icon to the right of your hand) will show you cards in the graveyard in the order they were played.
  • Hidden Menu - testing options such as auto-skipping exposition, forcing talisman unlocks, and “extreme damage” mode now live in a hidden menu, accessible from the menu by pressing the ~ key
  • Every UI in the game was touched up and the base resolution of the game was altered from the 1152x648 -> 1280x720

Bugfixes

  • Fixed situations where Strength wouldn’t update damage numbers on cards in your hand
  • Fixed situations where status effects could potentially be applied after they should have been destroyed
